Boston-based music blog Allston Pudding has come up with a great way to help with relief after the horrific events at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Knowing how tight-knit and supportive the great music scene in Boston is, the blog called for submissions to a mix that would solicit donations for The One Fund, a charity set up to help with relief in the aftermath of the explosions. The response was overwhelming and the mix had to be capped off somewhere, so they finished it up and released it today with 130 songs from all kinds of bands (including Speedy Ortiz, Friendly People, and more), most from Boston but with some from the rest of the country.
The effort is a beautiful example of how the music world can really come together in times of need. The mix will only set you back $1 and with the contributions of many, it could really make an impact—download it here. The One Fund was established by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino as a way to support those most affected by the tragedy, so you know your pocket change will be going to the right place.
