Bush Tetras

Bush Tetras by Edwina Hay

Bush Tetras were one of the most influential and celebrated bands of the '80s New York scene. Their sparse, drum centric post-punk echoed many bands popular in Britain and abroad at the time, but Bush Tetras brought the typical American need for a joke into it; their most well-known single, “Too Many Creeps”, sounds most similar to other female-led post-punk bands like Switzerland's Kleenex/LiLiPut, but the Swiss are as serious as a clicking watch. Honestly, if it weren't for Bush Tetras, Americans might never have been introduced to this sound, and without it, we may never have had the city of Portland, Oregon.

Backing up the Tetras tonight are Brooklyn's DIVE, the Captured Tracks four-piece featuring members of Beach Fossils, who have a way with driving, verbed-out guitars, and DJ Delphine Blue. If you are local to the tri-state area, tickets are still available to this early 18+ event. But if not, starting at 6:30, open a tab up right back here and see the whole thing for $free.99. DIVE plays at 7:30 followed by the Bush Tetras at 8:15.
