Often we've thought it must be lonely for Monster Rally being the sole beat music producer, to our knowledge, in the heart of the Midwest. Turns out a few mutual friends introduced Monster Rally to RUMTUM. The two beat producers bonded over their love of hip hop, funk, dub and and psych-pop. The new friendship resulted in a collaborative record appropriately titled MR & RT. The group's first cut “Raindrops” puts a hypnotic loop on a vintage doo wop sample. It's a subtle introduction, that leans more towards their hip hop taste than the lounge funk we often associate with Monster Rally.
MR & RT is out February 7 on Waaga.
