The new Slumberland doesn't sound like shoegaze from the 90s

More like Scots from the 80s.

Bricolage's first single is not a cover of “Age of Consent” as much as the lead hook wants to be. Besides, this aint New Wave synth pop. New Wave guitar pop, most definitely, but so much more, too. Let's not forget Scots of revivalism's past, various influences through which these Glasgwegians tromped to arrive at their self-titled full length due in May on Slumberland, a collection of catchy songs as much Franz Ferdinand as Belle and Sebastian, and throughout, every inch a grab at next big thing. NME: GO!
