Health&Beauty dropped the staggering & mind-expanding single “Riverside Cemetery” featured off their forthcoming album No Scare available August 5 from Wichita Recordings. The feelings & thoughts one gets from being by the graveside of a loved one, or even an unknown passed soul all come out to play together like an all hallow’s eve gathering where the spirits & sprites from the non-material dimensions congregate together.

In case you accidentally forgot that Antwon was the one of the main bosses running the game from San Jose & beyond; the Nature Boy incarnate delivered the 90s video for “Dri-Fit” that features the Lite-Brite-lit-the-eff-up steez of none other than El Electrico. The LED-lit suit adornments provide additional lights, bells, & whistles for the fashion & fitness conscious class of textile & sound consumers.

The Big Bend’s dropped their title track “Celebrate” taken off the forthcoming Misra album of the same name available July 22. Copious amounts of contemplation, conundrums, & the electric elation of rock & roll all combines together here to make for a joyous occasion.

Tired Lion just dropped their debut EP Figurine available today via Dew Process, and you can peep their performance video for “Not My Friends” that features the band rocking out, imitating television shows from “Friends” to “The Office” & more in fine fashion.

Watch the eccentric & elaborate Brittany Reeber video for Holiday Mountain’s “Como Te Llamas?” ft. Mexican Institute of Sound taken off their forthcoming album SHIA. Name inquiries are turned into a Jane Fonda work-out video gone weird that becomes something of a po-mo tele-novella of the absurd.

Richmond’s Avers dropped the single “Santa Anna” featured off their new album Omega/Whatever available July 29 from EggHunt Records that rocks with that rebel walking way of cool that we can’t get enough of. Like 60s art derelicts from NYC to modern day art pop derelicts of NYC; the Virginia band embodies the big city styles & sound with a down home heart.

Introducing Brooklyn musician CC Mose who is readying his debut album Beat Me via Plastic Jurassic, sharing a little ode to the Northwest scenes & more with the fuzzy single “West Seattle”. The distorted little ditty feels like a demo saturated in Big Muff dissonance that still retains a real warm & poppy feel at the core.

Peep Civil Civic’s b/w video of found war-time/war-machine footage to compliment the frenetic rhythmic chords & beat punches heard on “The Hunt”, found off the forthcoming album The Test available October 14 from Gross Domestic Product. This is a montage of found footage that captures all your current apocalyptic fears into one compiled nightmare for the senses.

Jake Luck from Leisure Birds provided us with their following exclusive guest selections:

When Black Label Music approached us about making an album for their catalog, Zoom Lens immediately came to mind. Cole and I began searching for references. Here’s our original inspiration list:

Timmy Thomas, “Why Can’t We Live Together”

Organ, lounge, Latin beat.

Klaus Weiss, “Driving Sequences”

Synth arpeggiation.

Ashra, “Don’t Trust The Kids & Blackouts”

Synth, driving, drum machine.

Claude Larson, “Savannah”

Funky synth and mellotron.

PBS Logo Demo bumpers circa 1989/1990

Amazing.

Michael Bundt

Chill, synth, walking drum beat.

Ray Lynch, “The Oh Of Pleasure”

Ambient, arpeggiation.

Geoff Bastow, “Communique”

Best song ever.

Angel Rada, “Asesinato Musical”

Synth harmony and exotic sci-fi realm.

Suzanne Ciani, “The Fifth Wave: Water Lullaby”

Classic Ciani.

Gérard Zadj & Jean-Pierre Decerf, “Surveyor”

Slow burner.

The idea was to use all of these references as sort of a mood board and make an album that felt like it was an exotic journey through our world. Like a travelogue.
