Wise Blood, “Loud Mouths”

Wise Blood Loud Mouths

Last we checked up on Wise Blood he dropped a 7″ on Transparent that had us comparing his junk punk to a revisiting of “Sister Ray”. With his signing to Dovecote for an EP, Wise Blood returns with “Loud Mouths” that returns to the R&B falsetto croon that drew first blood on How To Dress Well comparisons.

We'd still rather put our chips on Wise Blood's junk collage-R&B than the lo-fi chill-sonics of HTDW. On “Loud Mouths” he's dropping knowledge for the girls that are trying to ride with him, to drop all those pigeons squawking nonsense. As much as we're digging “Loud Mouths,” especially the backward-spun Gregorian chant sample that compliments the coked-out affair of the lyrics like being yacked out and hearing demonic messages from a warped copy of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the booming drum thuds and heavy piano stabs draw the ire of possible My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy trickle down. Don't fall in that trap; be wiser, young blood.
