New York MC Duncecap, in his own words, raps in part about “thinking too much.” Luckily for his fans though, that internal dialogue isn’t expressed in self-importance or pretension, moreso surrealist streams of consciousness –over experimental, boom-bap-leaning production. In the midst of heavy, existential topics, the Karma Kids repper rarely takes himself too serious — as evidenced by naming his next album Rapping is for Idiots.
The 10-track project is set to be released independently on November 10th, and features artists like ELUCID and Quelle Chris. Along with the artwork and release date, Duncecap released “Lyrical Miracle,” a single from the album and intro to the project featuring ABGOHARD.
After a hilarious intro, the two MCs trade turns picking through a flip of what sounds like a silent film score, dispensing bars on the futility of rapping for financial gain and feeling “double parked on a one way” as a modern creator in the sea of ephemerality that is modern art. The album marks a return to production for Duncecap, who crafted every beat on the project.
