Idiot Genes, “WineDust”

If you weren’t instantly interested in this track based on the band’s name or the title of it, then I’m not sure how we’ve been friends for this long. (Are we friends? Is this real?) Idiot Genes are revving up to release their latest album, Oof Bonk, in September, and we’ve got your exclusive first listen to the record’s second track “WineDust”.

As upfront as possible, the band claims not to take themselves too seriously. But this song is seriously amazing. The beat hits hard, the percussion wowing us from the start while heavy guitar riffs perfectly with the screaming/singing style of the vocals. “WineDust” is that perfect blend of garage rock and punk, but the vocals and instrumentals seem to fit together a little bit better than those two genres normally provide. And Pete Bayko closes the song with a strong statement, claiming, “But I’d rather be here than anywhere else.”

Well, if this song is playing, we totally agree.

Upcoming Shows:
08/25 – Somerville, MA @ Once Lounge w/ Musk & Aneurysm
08/27 – Boston, MA @ O’Brien’s Pub w/ Duck & Cover & Silver Screams

Oof Bonk is available September 23rd via Midnight Werewolf Records. It is available for preorder now.
