JR & PH7 and St. Joe Louis feat. Phonte and Tamisha Waden, "Invitation"

Post Author: Andre G

Earlier this Spring, we wrote about production duo JR & PH7’s “Driven,” a Roc Marciano-assisted cautionary tale of a woman befallen by the allure of the fast life. It was one figurative chapter of their Coral Cadavers album, a project described as a “neo-noir psychological thriller about a woman’s descent into moral ambiguities against the backdrop of Los Angeles. Today, the duo (and New Jersey rhymer Joe St. Louis) is back with “Invitation,” a laidback cut featuring Phonte and frequent Foreign Exchange collaborator Tamisha Waden.
Over and a snapping snare, St. Joe Louis delivers the backdrop of another debaucherous night for the album’s star, including “gigglin’ off secrets that satan told ’em.” His abstract imagery and diction sets a cinematic tone that Phonte follows up with his own descriptive narrative. JR & PH7 succeed at choosing artists that further their album’s concept in their own particular style. Time will tell how it all unfolds. Coral Cadavers is set to be released on June 16th.  You can pre-order here.
