Vienna musician’s new EP is a thrilling indietronica powerhouse
Vienna-based artist KÄSSY‘s debut EP, I’m Going Somewhere Better Later, is a compelling introduction to her distinct indie-electronic vision. Demonstrating a remarkable degree of creative control by writing, producing, and performing nearly all of the material herself, KÄSSY delivers a collection that is both deeply personal and sonically adventurous. It’s easy to draw an obvious comparison to LCD Soundsystem, but there’s layers of Chromatics, Hot Chip, Caribou and more in there – with bursts of emotion overlapping the party girl aesthetic.
KÄSSY’s sound fluidly shifts between moments of dreamy introspection and distorted intensity. Her unique indie-electronic style is anchored by her distinctive voice and intricate, layered production. Tracks like “wemightchange” delve into the blurred lines between reality and illusion in the digital age, while “Milk” dissects the aftermath of infatuation. This sonic versatility creates an emotionally grounded yet constantly evolving experience for the listener.
Having honed her skills with bands like Oehl and Sharktank, KÄSSY’s solo debut feels like a natural progression and a bold step forward. The EP captures her ability to balance vulnerability with sharp creative direction.
