U.K. indie-pop star conjures heavy dose of melancholy on new single

Hi There fake fall! For city dwellers, this upcoming season is often being substituted with sudden or lingering 80 degree weather these days, much to the chagrin of many. Fear not, for there is a respite in place thanks to the musical arts. One such musician who is here to cure listeners of the seasonal woes in none other than the UK star, Oliver Spalding. With the release of his hit single “Novemberism,” the man simply cannot be stopped. The album of the same name will be available on November 15th via Monotreme Records for all to enjoy.

Novemberism is a product of intense creative energy fueled by Mr. Spalding. “To be melancholy all year round is to suffer from Novemberism.” Listeners will relate to the mood and rejoice in it, if possible. “The album focuses on a certain period of time in my life and the things that happened around me. My honesty in songwriting is key. The aim of this album was to be raw and emotional. Emotions are scary and no one wants to face them, and that’s what I wanted the album to feel like – something that is uncomfortable but also beautifully revealing.” Fans will learn a thing or two by the track’s end.

A volatile start pushes its way through with a dreamlike grace for this short song. Mr. Spalding’s voice rides along while the solemn trip continues. Twinkling notes linger through supported by a strength that is unexpected, but welcome nonetheless. “Novemberism” has a pumping energy that does not leave the listener relaxed, rather they are rushed into a thoughtful trance begging an inquisition to everything at hand. It truly is a track ripe for the autumn’s highs and lows. Listen to it below.
