The Canadian post-rock legends deliver intensely cinematic spectacle in Seattle
Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the long-running Canadian post-rock unit, played an intense and darkly cinematic show last weekend at The Neptune Theatre in Seattle for an enthralled sold-out crowd.
Backed by their unique widescreen film loop projections – displaying a flurry of striking apocalyptic imagery – GY!BE kicked off with “SUN IS A HOLE SUN IS VAPORS” off their most recent album, and carried that haunting energy forward for two full hours. The combination of devastating, funereal sounds and gnarled cinematic visuals conjured a welcome sensory overload for everyone in attendance, culminating in a galvanizing performance of fan-favorite “World Police and Friendly Fire.” Otherworldly stuff – just another day at the salt mines for Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Check out the gallery below for all the highlights from a thrilling night in Seattle.
