Mac DeMarco and Arp at East River Ampitheater

As summer comes to a close, so does the free, annual Summerstage concert series. For their penultimate show of summer '13, they teamed up with MeanRed to bring Canada's Mac DeMarco to East River Park in downtown Manhattan to perform with Arp. DeMarco's set included a few covers including some lines of Eric Clapton's “Tears in Heaven,” (the audience was told to sing along but we don't think many people obliged), a pretty fantastic cover of fellow Canadians Bachman–Turner Overdrive's “Taking Care of Business,” and the night ended with Mac bringing his girlfriend/muse, Sweet Kiki, on stage to sing “Still Together” to her. The crowd chanted, “one more song,” after he finished the final track from 2 and Mr. DeMarco obliged by returning to the stage with his band to perform, “My Kind of Woman,” another song inspired by his special lady from the same album.

Q: How adorable is Mac DeMarco to bring his sweetheart on stage to sing to her? A: Extremely.
