Psych/drone band Planets Around The Sun (L’Animaux Tryst [Field] Recordings, Foxy Digitalis) took their seasonal equinox party to a boat in Casco Bay off Portland, Maine for the June 21 Summer Solstice. The cruise ship was packed with a sold out crowd of 150 who enjoyed local beer, danced to DJ sets from Patrick O’Rorke and Jeff Deblois, vibed to art by We Are X, got weird with captain (and legendary noise artists) Crank Sturgeon, and finished the night out with a set by Foam Castles, with Honey Clouds filling in as the backing band. This is how Portland, Maine gets down.
