Showpaper Microshow in New Brunswick, NJ

Post Author: Jeremy Krinsley

The basement was spouting water through broken pipes and the microshow list was ambitiously full. A girl in a pink coat had taken over for Todd P’s normally authoritative organizational hand, and he’d gone to the living room to watch Gremlins II. Some band in love with The Modern Lovers (a convincing ode) and a metal band with a psychedelic streak played back to back as the snare drum stand snapped and human hands came in as ready replacements. One broken guitar amp and an increasingly soggy basement later and New Brunswick’s Ivy Mansion emptied out into the chilly night. While we wished our feet weren’t wet, no complaints were lodged. Except the guy with the broken equipment.

Showpaper‘s Joe Ahearn and New Brunswick local Jodie Francis were there to document the proceedings for the event guide’s benefit.
