Chris Cohen is a former touring player with Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Cass McCombs, Deerhoof, and Curtains. When he wasn't on the road with that impressive list of bands, he was a contributing member a few other fine bands like Cryptacize and Natural Dreamer. Like any artist who's spent considerable time with psych-heads like Ariel Pink, experimentalists like Deerhoof, and captivating songwriters like Cass McCombs, the close relationships will rub off. If you're only as good as the company you keep, Cohen is cut from the finest of cloth – we're talking Egyptian thread count numbers.
With a touch of dreamy psychedelia and plenty of pop wonder, "Optimist High" is Chris Cohen feeling as though everything is illuminated. Cohen's primary instrument is percussion, but he recorded the entirey of his debut album on his own, playing bass, Casio MT65, piano, and guitar.
