Donovan Wolfington, “Mosquito”

Post Author: Abbie Hornburg

The dream of the ’90s is alive and fuzzy in Donovan Wolfington’s sophomore full-length How to Treat the Ones you Love. Catchy hooks imbued with an emotive-carefree punk attitude that captures the heart of partying, traveling and growing up. In the VHS–stylized video for their debut track “Mosquito”, colorful chromatic images of nature are paired with playful shots of the band recording in a bizarre video that emulates the dream-like ambience and delirium of a Hitchcock film.

Fuzz is a deadly weapon and Donovan Wolfington uses it wisely. “Mosquito” is an experimental blend of scuzzy bass and minor chord angst paired with a virulent strain of 90’s rock. The evocative guitar textures project a massive mess of fuzz that wallows in the full-force grunge of Dinosaur Jr. Donovan Wolfington builds a wall of noise with an ample amount of crunch and dense, distorted punk rock.

The album How to Treat the Ones you Love will be released via Top Shelf Records on August 21.
