Palm, “Fleshtones”

Post Author: Quinn Moreland

Palm is a band that prove escaping the Brooklyn bubble can be extremely beneficial to any artistic project. The four piece, composed of Eve Alpert, Kasra Kurt, Gerasimos Livitsanos, and Hugo Stanley, formed while attending Bard College upstate, and are now based out of Hudson, the preferred weekend getaway of many New Yorkers. Though Palm often plays shows in the city’s buzz band birthing borough, their upstate home base has allowed them to tighten their Stereolab-meets-Sonic Youth scuzz.

In 2013, Palm quietly released two EPs, Ode To Scott and Into the Bulk, and will finally be releasing their debut LP, the details of which remain mysterious. One song we know does appear is “Fleshtones”, as it premieres in visual form. Fellow Bard alum Garrett Rosenblum created the video’s neon VHS wizardry, which translates the song’s aggressive guitars and drums into flashing hypnotic tones. The video completely obscures Palm’s identities, placing all attention on the song, which is a very promising sign for the LP.
