Alan Palomo, alias Neon Indian, has announced a new LP to follow 2009's much-lauded Psychic Chasms. Era Extraña (which is the Spanish word for both 'strange' and to 'command the act of longing') is due out September 13 on Palomo's own Static Tongues imprint; it was written and recorded in Helsinki during the short solstice days of winter. A press release calls the process “ice sculpted from arpeggiated synth-scapes and scribbled journal entires made during his stint there in constant solitude.” You know, sort of like this:
It was mixed and co-produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT). Other than solitude and the winter solstice, apparently cyberpunk was a big influence. Neon Indian is kicking off a tour in support of Era Extraña as well; dates are as follows:
