Madison, Wisconsin’s genre-blending trio Bien Bien – comprised of the affectionately named Javi (vocals, guitar), Marshall Arts (guitar), and Coniferous Wallace (beats) – has been hard at work on their debut EP. The title track starts off this monster of a collection, introducing you to Bien Bien’s original blend of soul, pop, and rock. It sets the tone for the chill music that emanates from this piece, and makes you feel at home in a warm bed of sound. The notable use of guitar in the EP makes you feel like Santana had a hand in their development, and it doesn’t stop there. And in third track “Lake Superior” you’ll find emotional, expressive vocals and some quirky laughter that is sure to put you in a good mood.
“This cuatro collection of tunes is made to showcase our sounds, our melding of styles and our influences,” the band explains. “We hope that you groove to these tracks, because if you groove, the people around you groove, and that fulfills our mission of spreading the bien bien.”
