Occupy Wall Street May Day 2012

Post Author: , Gretchen Robinette

On Tuesday, May 1, Occupy Wall Street organized a general strike, march and various events to take place on International Worker's Day. Some of the activities that took place in New York, were meditations, lectures, a teach-in and a guitar army (shortened to “guitarmy”) led by Tom Morello.

Marchers took the streets and congregated in Union Square for performances from Dan Deacon, Das Racist, Tom Morello and Immortal Technique. At 5:30PM, there was a solidarity march down to Wall Street.

Our fearless photographer Gretchen Robinette spent the entire day marching, protesting and taking photos which appear in the gallery above. For more images from Gretchen, please visit her website.

A huge set of photos documenting the entire General Strike, from the Guitarmy to Water Street.
