Ireland’s We Cut Corners – comprised of John Duignan and Conall O’Breachain – is following up their summertime success with a new music video for their single “Oh”, which is set to be released on their new album, The Cadences of Others, in November.
The video itself was shot beautifully in low light, highlighting an exquisite narrative. The song speaks of “a young concubine” and a “canary in [his] coal mine”, a strange and twisted tale of love as depicted in the video. It brings to life existential questions, thoughts of love, and innate feelings of torture and depression that can be associated with these emotions. Positive experiences juxtaposed with the man writing out equations on a chalkboard, reading, and attempting suicide in a bathtub full of water.
In its simplest form, the video reminds us that there is no equation to love. Everyone goes through the hard parts, and change is constant.
The Cadences of Others is set to release November 4th. It is available for preorder now.
