Black Marble, “Pretender”

Post Author:

Brooklyn's Black Marble embraces the doom and gloom of 1980s bands like Joy Division and The Cure. They are named after a dark, slick, heavy stone, what else could you expect? “Pretender,” is the opening track from their debut EP, Weight Against the Door. Against a steady beat the vocals on “Pretender” are hushed and calm. There is an intentional restraint of emotions, similar to San Fransico's Soft Moon, another band that takes inspiration from the same post-punk period. Black Marble's four song EP is out now in digital format on Hardly Art, and will be released in vinyl form on that special day of black-hearted love and dark chocolates, Valentines Day.
