Alina Bea, “Push Back”

Michael Brummett

Los Angeles, multi-instrumentalist and dancer Alina Bea, delivers a confident and emotional move forward in her new single, “Push Back”. Previewing her forthcoming album, Bea displays an impassioned new take on her often introspective craft, finding influence in experimental synthesis. Devastated from the separation of her band and a personal break-up, “Push Back” is a beautiful indication of newly-found direction.

Softened, intentional vocals are set to a gentle, electronic rain storm, with an easy-to-miss, almost ghost-like background structure. “Push Back” serves as a challenge to the traditional, with Alina musing that “it questions the validity of complete harmony and suggests that only through oppression can you really learn and grow with another person.”
