Anomalie, "Velours"

Post Author: Andre G

In 2012, classically trained keyboardist Nicolas Dupuis decided to hedge his bets and develop a new sound after becoming the first ever Yannick Nézet-Séguin award recipient. As Anomalie, he’s combined his innovative arrangements with a fusion of jazz, hip-hop and funk.
While touring with producer Gramatik as a keyboard player, Anomalie began crafting his sophomore work, the Métropole EP. The project is finished, and Anomalie offered the world the first single, the funky “Velours.” The slower-paced number showcases Anomalie’s keyboard acumen, as he sprinkles delightful plucks around a buoyant synth groove. The track is every bit as smooth as the title implies, an effortless fusion of jazz, funk and hip-hop that bodes well for Métropole.
The EP will be available on Lowtemp June 23rd. “Velours” is available at all major digital retailers. You can also stream below.
