Chelsea Wolfe covers Nick Cave's “I Let Love In” with the inertia of annihilation trapped in the recordings. It is the doomed mood expected from Wolfe and yet, her cover still possesses a death grip on our ear drums. When she sings “I Let Love In, it's from the voice of a goddess on the verge of bursting into a supernova, while a wailing wall of reverb and buzzsaw riffs attempts to keep the explosions at bay.
It's a far better gift to Nick than anything she could have purchased at Hallmark.
