Emily Reo, “Birds of Paradise” (Pretenders cover)

Dayna Evans

emily reo

It is widely understood that Emily Reo's brand of captivatingly gorgeous dreampop is damn near perfect, as it puts you in such an entrancing place that it feels almost hard to move. When Rookie Mag asked her to do a cover of The Pretenders' “Birds of Paradise”, the matchup couldn't have been more perfect. Reo takes what is an emotive, precious Pretenders track and turns into something slightly more effective and dreamy. It becomes maybe what this song always needed.

This track is Rookie's theme this month, and is well worth the stream, which you can do below. Emily Reo's Olive Juice is out now on Elestial Sound.
