Fritz Montana, Father Mother Sister Brother

Post Author: Elizabeth Schneider

Fritz Montana is set to debut their first full length album Father Mother Sister Brother. The album, recorded at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco by Grace Coleman (who also mixes) and mastered by Daniel Baunstein, is nine tracks of pure enjoyment. Fritz Montana has been successful in the Bay Area for a while, including an appearance in the 2015 BottleRock lineup in Napa and opening for acts such as Glass Animals, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend and Queens of the Stone Age. With Father Mother Sister Brother, the San Francisco based artists that make up Fritz Montana – Matthew Hagarty, David Marshall, and Kevin Logan – have created music that you can listen to, sing to, and – most importantly – share with your friends.
Explains the band:

Father Mother Sister Brother is a record about the connections we make in life, those that we choose and those that we don’t, and the aspects of our relationships that bind us together and tear us apart. Our parents choose each other, but they don’t choose their children and we don’t choose them. This system that is created by that dynamic leads to complicated experiences like addiction, divorce, jealousy, and fear, which we are always exposed to before having the wisdom to understand. In this CD, each song addresses topics of connection and belonging, desires to obtain or avoid attention, and need for control and predictability that we all feel.

“Chop” is a song that I have listened to at least ten times already. “Everyday” and “On My Mind” are becoming fast favorites. With unadulterated energy and enthusiasm, Father Mother Sister Brother will be a favorite on your summer playlist.
