Little Rock, AR natives Joan have a knack for making their listeners dance. Seriously, as I listened to “Tokyo” for the first time, it was hard to sit still. A blend of psychedelic with cool soul, the track is steeped in Toro Y Moi influences and gooey electronic goodness. Comprised of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford, Joan’s roots are tied to the duo meeting while working on their respective projects when they quickly realized they should simply join forces. The result is earworm gold “Tokyo,” as are their other tracks, “take me on” and “love somebody like you.
