Toronto/Montreal-based multi-talented singer/songwriter John Southworth is revving up to release his latest work Small Town Water Tower on November 4th. While we not-so-patiently await its release, we’ve got the exclusive premiere of his new track “Champion Of Love”.
Crystal clear, accent-vague vocals flood the speakers as Southworth sings over notable percussion in an almost unamused way. Lyrics like “you are the champion of love / you are the victor of my heart and soul… you are all my heart can handle” make it seem as though he’s entranced by his significant other, as he likens the narrative to events in wide-known tales, including references to pharaohs, jockeys from Kentucky, and white horses. “Champion Of Love” is quirky, fast-paced, and unique in its disposition.
