Brooklyn indie-pop artist soars on whirring new single
With the sun setting at what should be illegal times each day, the cold starting to set in and the tea-kettle boil of the world around us heading into 2020, I think we could all use a bit of a sonic uplift. Enter indie-pop artist Madelin, who is kicking into the New Year in style with her infectious new single “Girl I Never Was.”
The track, along with its accompanying video, outlines the Brooklyn-based Madeline Mondrala’s awakening and journey through self-acceptance. “Girl I Never Was” comes out the other side offering catharsis along with brilliant, whirring electronics and a beat that never quits.
“‘Girl I Never Was’ is the first song I wrote after I discovered my bisexuality,” the artist shares. “It’s about accepting your past and present self with love. I’m excited to share this sentiment with people who will, hopefully, be able to relate to, and also dance to it.”
