Although from Brooklyn, singer/songwriter Natalie Farrell has begun to make strides a little further south in Asbury Park, NJ. With a music background that goes back to age 7, Farrell draws inspiration from a diverse pool including Janis Joplin to Amy Winehouse and Hayley Williams.
Now, Farrell is cashing in on her experiences and considerable talents sharing her proper debut single, “Exhale,” exclusively with Impose Magazine today.
Trading in her bedroom and ukulele for a studio and full band sound, the groovy cut ebbs and flows as Farrell’s dynamic contralto sets the pace and is given room to show her range. On “Exhale,” Farrell establishes a strong aesthetic as pop sensibilites are mixed with undeniable soul.
“‘Exhale’ is about taking a moment to stop and reflect,” shares Farrell. “It’s about being thankful for your surroundings and the people in your life that mean the most to you.”
