Indie sensation returns with first new single in two years

On the heels of performing a series of solo, stripped-down concerts dubbed “The Lost Shows,” indie sensation Sophie Allison, a.k.a. Soccer Mommy, has released “Lost,” her first new single since the release of her excellent previous album Sometimes, Forever two years ago.

“‘Lost’ feels like something new and something old at the same time,” Allison says of the track. “It’s a song that’s full of reflection and I wanted its production to really capture that feeling. I’m happy to have a chance to play it at these more intimate solo shows, because I think it really shines in that setting.”

“Lost” is a serene, twangy acoustic-driven track that recalls Allison’s more sparse early work, and the result is breathtakingly gorgeous. The track oscillates between minimal verses and snowballing choruses, a sonic ebb-and-flow that has been central to Soccer Mommy’s sound since the very beginning. It’s another pensive ballad that finds Allison grappling with feelings of longing, regret, and confusion, accompanied by a lyric visualizer that puts her front-and-center, surrounded by idyllic nature.

More Soccer Mommy tracks are apparently on the way, so stay tuned for more. Until then, you can check out the lyric video for “Lost” below.
