San Francisco is firing on all cylinders in the psyche-rock department, save for one; the girl band. Brooklyn championed Vivian Girls (sorta, now that Katy Goodman is in LA) and The Girls At Dawn caught some love, LA has Dum Dum Girls, Atlanta has The Coathangers, but San Francisco has yet to truly invite the girls to the party.
The Sandwitches are vying for territory along with Grass Widow and Shannon & The Clams that will soon even out the gender ratio in the Bay. Following up last year's Duck Duck Goose! EP, The Sandwitches are releasing Mrs. Jones' Cookies LP on Empty Cellar Records.
Insight into the shape of the record thus far is limited to the somber “Joe Says” and “Lightfoot,” which peaks into operatic arias that counter the blues of “Joe Says” with a jangly frolic.
Mrs. Jones' Cookies is out March 29 on Empty Cellar Records. The Sandwitches are playing a record release party at The Makeout Room in SF on March 6.
