Last week, Calvin Klein unleashed a new ad starring Destiny Frasqueri—the artist formerly known as Princess Nokia—alongside a bevy of other folks who highlight the diversity the brand is presumably hoping to exude in 2016. The new 90-second spot premiered during Men’s Fashion Week and also features Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, FKA Twigs, Fetty Wap, Klara Kristin, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Adwoa Aboah, Saskia de Brauw, Sung Jin Park, someone named Kendall and a white guy that looks like Vanilla Ice. Despite these heavy hitters, Frasqueri sees the most face time (though she is one of the few not named in the spot)—a role she was cast for by photographer and filmmaker Tyrone Lebon, as she explained on Instagram:
I am so pleased to announce I’m staring in the Calvin Klein Spring 2016 Campaign. Thank You to the photographer Tyrone Lebon, who personally casted me. I had such a good time goofing with u and your dad.
