In case you need another excuse to lie in bed and lose yourself, Bedhead’s entire discography is being re-released as a box set. It includes their three full-length albums, another CD full of additional singles, EPs and outtakes as well as a book discussing the band’s slothful crawl through indie rock in the ’90s. The five-LP box set will be released on November 11 via Numero Group.
Bedhead’s distinction comes from their quiet nervousness; in a world that was ruled by quirky Pavement madness, Bedhead managed to capture audiences with a sound so starkly intimate and serene, they came to be a quintessential influence in bedroom rock. By the time Bedhead had stepped into the studio one last time to record Transaction de Novo with (in)famous engineer, Steve Albini, they had mastered the sharp and subtly gripping simplicity that defined their sound. Now we can hear the band’s history in it’s entirety, stream it on NPR here.
