The Chvrches singer hit the Bay Area to wrap up her tour in support of her first solo record, Vicious Creature. A day ahead of her set at the BottleRock music festival in Napa, Mayberry played the Fillmore for a BottleRock AfterDark show (and a make-up date for the show she had to postpone due to an illness in January). What with the one-off nature of the weekend’s shows (coming two months after the end of the tour proper), Mayberry’s band personnel was whittled down to a lean and mean three-piece of drummer and guitarist backing her, but they show didn’t lack for punch or energy. The short-but sweet set featured the entirety of Vicious Creature, plus a cover of the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony.”
