Announce is probably the wrong word, because there hasn’t been much said except a few cryptic messages, but that’s exactly what we would expect from TOBACCO and his horde of mask-wearing compatriots. What we do know so far is that six days ago, Black Moth Super Rainbow posted the above image to their Facebook and Instagram, accompanied with the words SeeFu Lilac. Then yesterday a pre-order and a stream of the title track was made available on Bandcamp, followed by a note on TOBACCO’s FB calling it a “mini-album”, reading in full:
no glam shots, no press releases, no problem: the new bmsr mini-album only on Rad Cult, label to the stars
Then late last night, TOBACCO posted a second single from the nine-song album described on Bandcamp as “neon flavored outtakes from a 6th album that doesn’t yet exist.” According to the BMSR frontman, the song, “DVD Sweetener”, was written “for a roller rink show that never ended up happening.”
Piecing the messages together, we now know that SeeFu Lilac—the first official output from Black Moth Super Rainbow since 2012’s scratch-n-sniff album Cobra Juicy—will officially be released on February 5, 2016 on Rad Cult. Consider it announced.
You can stream the title track and “DVD Sweetener” below.
