Portugal art poppers The Gift have been making a cult-level splash worldwide, & they presented us with the visual component for their single “Love Without Violins”. Featuring an appearance from co-writer & pop legend Brian Eno with production from Flood and featured on a forthcoming album of the same name; everyone together creates a perfectly crafted synth pop sound that soars like your favorite provacateurs. Embodying the pinacle of 70s through 90s pop movements & more; The Gift is the ultimate present for music fans young & old alike.

The Paulo Costa directed visual piece for “Love Without Violens” features appearances from Grazi Nery & João Carvalho and extravagant styling by Carol Gamarra, make up from Atelier Antónia Rosa & hair by Cauê dos Santos & Rui Canento. Lead by the lavishly dressed Sónia Tavares in a variety off textile styles & a commanding presence; realms of art meet the natural beauty of the body in a sensuous blend of creating angelic & ghostly clad statuesque forms. Sónia from the The Gift provided us with the following exclusive introduction to both the making of the song & visual component:

At the end of the day, it’s a love story. But a different kind of story, or perhaps a different kind of love. Tough love. The point of view from both man and woman. Submission and domination.

Brian [Eno] took some of the lyrics and really made the whole scenario. We did a little research about it and it was a challenge to write something completely different from what we were used to, and to sing it, as well. Regarding the video, we tried to follow closely to the lyrics. But it’s definitely a very artistic video, and the END goes with your imagination.
