On Thursday, December 9, a special benefit event took place at ISSUE Project Room in Downtown Brooklyn. The evening featured an opening set by performance art supergroup HARIBO (featuring ISSUE Project Room’s artist in residence, Raúl De Nieves) and a set by Matmos, who performed scenes “The Park” and “The Backyard” from the television opera Perfect Lives by Robert Ashley. Matmos was accompanied by new collaborative video work by M.C. Schmidt and emerging Baltimore video artist and electronic musician Max Eilbacher. For “The Park,” MC Schmidt and Drew Daniel were joined by Davindar Singh on bansuri, Adam Markiewicz (of The Dreebs) on electric violin, Britton Powell on upright bass, Isabel Castellvi, Leigh Stuart, and Clarice Jensen on cellos.

Baltimore duo Matmos performed selections from a television opera on Tuesday evening.
