Bad Braids, “Jackal”

Ava Myint

Earlier in April, Megan Biscieglia’s project Bad Braids released their latest album Eye of the Night on Glowing Dagger. The single “Jackal” now has an accompanying music video. It features Biscieglia and her band standing in front of a greenscreen backdrop of a desert. Placed in this artificial representation of a natural environment, they stand deathly still. Imagery of flowers being zapped by lightning match the psychedelic feel of the folksy guitar and Biscieglia’s haunting howls of “Sparrow where do you go / Into a black cloud, the cycle keeps you all alone.” Whimsical, yet solemn, this video brings you to a foreign landscape and reality.
