Taking a trip “Home” with Daybi

Filmed on the Kahnawake Mohawk reserve 15 miles outside of Montreal, “Home” is rapper Daybi’s tribute to the community and lifestyle that he has embraced. Originally from Winnipeg, Daybi spent the majority of his career based in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and New York City, chasing the dream which led to several albums on Bombay Records. But home kept calling until he eventually chose to raise his son among the families on the reserve.

Director Mathieu Favreau documents life on the Kahnawake Mohawk reserve with Daybi and his son, attending community events by day and driving to perform in Montreal by night. Often we think of settling down as a giving up of the pursuit, but Daybi’s story illustrates the continued creative enrichment to be found in the warmth of one’s home.

The “Home” film crew would like to thank Subway Sandwiches and GMC Terrain SUV.
