From the one man’s treasure is another man’s gold files, Eric Krasno worked with electro-funk ingenue Gramatik to turn a song meant for his upcoming concept album into “Recovery,” a sterling single which seamlessly fuses pop, electronic and hip-hop. Over deep drums and dazzling synths, Krasno sings about overcoming travails and getting yourself together. The bright keys work in tandem with the atmospheric soundscape to provide an unlikely – but pleasantly uptempo – canvas for Krasno to deliver his message.
Krasno has said that his lyrics especially resonated with Gramatik, who was overcoming a serious leg injury during conception of the song.
If Krasno’s vocals aren’t enough, Andro Kajzer-directed video could be considered inspiration in it’s own right, matching the pleasant sonics with visuals depicting a day at the beach. From whales diving out of the rippling sea to shots of a woman cavorting in the sand, Kajzer’s cinematography radiates a summer-ready vibe.
The track keeps the ball rolling on a bustling 2017 for Gramatik, who’s looking to follow up the success he had in 2016 with his Epigram album and remix EP. Krasno’s untitled concept album will be available come 2018.
