Premiere: Being Man Forever

Man Forever's Kid Millions has put together this video to promote his unique touring strategy. Instead of bringing a band along with him, Kid will be joined in different cities by a revolving cast of local players; friends and collaborators from all over the country who have worked for Kid in the past. This makes sense, as Mr. Millions also follows this strategy in NYC, employing a range of musicians for one-night stands.

This video, as it were, is not a promotional video, but rather an instructional video. For this revolving cast, Kid explains his thesis and his methodology behind his new record on Thrill Jockey, Pansophical Cataract. The drum rolls are meditational, not improvisational, he explains. This primer, filmed by Matt Marlin of Pterodactyl and shared with the public, explains his whole musical philosophy.

But the real reason he has shared it with the world, instead of the express few he will be performing with, is because you now have a chance to BECOME one of those few. Anyone who pre-orders the album before the release on May 15 (including anyone who has already pre-ordered it now) is entered for a chance to Be In Man Forever on the upcoming North American Tour. On May 15, Thrill Jockey will randomly select and contact five winners, who will win a pair of tickets to their local Man Forever show, and the opportunity to play the "woodie" part at that show. "Woodie" is what the members of Oneida call vintage wooden electric organs, of which they have a lot. (NYC shows are not included in the contest.) This is obviously very exciting news for fans of the drum roll.
