Skinny Bones, “Sleep In”

Folktronica duo Skinny Bones present a distorted version of reality in their new video for “Sleep In”. Opening with a simplistic guitar part, the track eventually fuses with plucky electronic sounds that are warped, fragmented, and repeated, until finally coming full circle. “Sleep In” comes from the Massachusetts band’s debut record, Noise Floor, released earlier this year on Trimtab.

Directed by Peter Rosati, the “Sleep In” video is an engrossing exercise in the banal. Suddenly, something as mundane as making breakfast is elevated to artistic status, and our perception is turned completely on its head. Bold colors, flashes of light, and twitchy editing enhance the track’s complex, erratic nature.
