The new video for Smith Westerns "Varsity" is a jaunt through the triumphs of youthful love and adventure, and if that sounds familiar at all, it's because DIIV already did it. Since DIIV and Smith Westerns are so inextricably linked, perhaps the reason why two of their videos are reminiscent of each other is a result of the hive mind of young, 90s-revivalist musicians. The colors in Smith Westerns' video are gorgeous, however, and following two grungy-looking youths jump around on a graffitied roof that I have definitely drank forties on is a wonderful way to reminisce about times when things were better.
