San Jose/San Francisco beatsmith B. Lewis' Science Within Reason tape is so good, I'm willing to proclaim him worthy of a residency at Low End Theory SF – unless of course the SF event consistently features the LA mainstays, to which I say, at least let B. Lewis rock upstairs.
Science Within Reason is 30 tracks deep, which is beyond reason for one long player. B. Lewis sustains for the duration, making his lengthy tape a massive exploration of Low End aesthetic that discovers new pockets of sonic bliss. Quite effortlessly, B. Lewis welds jam rock horns with bluesy work song vocals, glitched out synths and crackling drums, then cascades into the electro-R&B vibes that FlyLo, Bilal and Shlohmo are cultivating as of late.
I highly recommend you download Science Within Reason before B. Lewis gets swooped up by one of the LA labels like Brainfeeder or Alpha Pup and the science stops being free of charge.
