Bare Mutants, “Inside My Head”

How many reasons does Jered Gummere need to give us before we start invoking his name tirelessly? What's this guy got to do for us that was not already proven with The Ponys, Guilty Pleasures and influencing Jay Reatard and the burrough of Brooklyn for the better part of the Aughts? Turns out, it's start yet another killer band.

Bare Mutants is Gummere's latest incarnation that features members of Mannequin Men and The 1900s, along with a few other close friends. Debut greetings don't get much better than Bare Mutant's 'Without You' b/w 'Inside My Head' 7″. The B-side “Inside My Head” is a wailing wall of reverb, space echos and sci-fi transmissions that, if they truly are stuck inside Gummere's head, must create one helluva migraine. With echoes of bunnymen visions, Gummere is downright miserable on “Inside My Head”, but all that dejection finds catharsis in the sonic boom.
