Toro y Moi, AKA Chaz Bundick, is releasing a follow-up LP to this year's Causers of This on February 22, entitled Underneath the Pine.
Quite possibly the coolest thing to ever come out of Columbia, South Carolina, (sorry, Aziz Ansari) Toro y Moi originally planned on releasing two full-lengths in 2010: one electronic, and the other using acoustic instruments. We can forgive Bundick for not getting it in before the new year, especially if it contains the same tasty “Steve Reich-ian piano phrasing” and “pervasive funk” as his first effort.
We're also told that Toro y Moi will be touring like hell for most of next year as a quartet, including a stop at SXSW. As someone who caught him at the French Legation during the better part of a Sailor Jerry bender (don't ask) this is indeed a very good thing.
