If the title of Dum Dum Girls' new album seems melancholy, that's because it is—Only in Dreams, their sophomore effort which comes out September 27 on Sub Pop, is rife with “heavy, deeply personal stuff,” in the words of a recent press release. Continuing where earlier-this-year's He Gets Me High EP left off, Only in Dreams will be more polished and poppier than the lo-fi girl gang's preceding releases while still maintaining its edge and delving into new emotional depths (“surely unprecedented for this style of music,” as the press release adds coyly). Also expect more harmonic richness, as all four Dum Dum Girls will be playing and singing on the album for the first time.
They'll be embarking on a World Tour starting in October 1st with Crocodiles and Colleen Green and Royal Baths sharing the load of opening. Check out the dates and track list below:
